2001 Corvette Z06
Revell kit # 85-2588
Review:
Many of the parts in this kit now date to the original 1997 coupe kit and while Revell hasnt kept up with every change over the five years of C-5 production they should be given credit for providing a kit of each different Corvette model. In 1997 the coupe, in 98 the convertible, in 1999 the hardtop and now the new King of the Hill the Z06.
Molded in white plastic, the body shell of this full glue kit has been modified to represent the Z06 by the addition of the rear brake ducts, filled in front grills and small Z06 logos above the side cove. Other Z06 changes include the headrest logos, the round tail pipes and the unique wheels. The latter are beautiful and almost beg not to be dechromed which will be required to produce factory correct wheels. While all logos are molded on the body, they are also available on the water slide decal sheet which even includes red panels to represent the interior color option.
Final Comment:
Robert- One could criticize the kit for its coupe sized rather then Z06 tires, transmission inaccuracies etc. but the positives far out weigh the mistakes. In a time of diminished model production we have Corvettes newest and best. Buy several, build one and display it with pride.
Ismael- This kit gets high marks for execution, fit, and parts crispness, but in terms of accuracy, well that is another story. If you don't mind the incorrect transmission, shifter, pedals, left engine cover, tires, gauge cluster or passenger side door lock, you can build it box stock...
