2001 Corvette Z06
Revell Wheels of Fire Snap Tite kit # 85-1919
Review:
If the reader has built a recent R-M snaptite kit then you will be familiar with the layout and construction of this style of kit. This mold has been used to create several promos and the ProFinish Pace Car but now has been modified to create the exciting new Z06.
The kit is molded in yellow plastic with black interior and chassis with clear, chrome and rubber parts when required. The unique and well done Z06 wheels are molded in chrome but unfortunately will need to be repainted to be factory correct. Black disks are provided to represent disk brakes but lack any form of caliper which are prominently painted red on the real car. The front grills and rear brake ducts are part of the body and contain nicely scaled mesh but will require careful painting. The regular Corvette logos are molded on hood and rear deck and the special Z06 logos are molded on the head rests and upper fenders. All of these markings plus instrument cluster and flames are included on the kits major short coming, a vinyl peel and stick decal sheet. If vinyl decals are being used I would recommend that the molded markings be sanded off. A cute touch is the Illinois plate ZDEAM 1, (Zoras Dream) in honor of Zora Duntovs support of the original 1963 Z06.
Final Comment:
Since most serious modelers will use the full glue kit to build their Z06 this snap kit provides someone in a hurry the opportunity to build up a quick but accurate replica of Corvettes new King of the Hill.
