" The Weekend Model "

Having not finished a model for some time I gave myself a challenge, start and finish a model in a weekend. To eliminate the time-consuming paint step I selected the easily available 1998 AMT Black promo, #8270.
I started by sanding off mold lines then repolishing the body. The chassis was detailed with paint and the interior painted black with some detailing added.
To keep the car from merely looking like a cleaned up promo I decided to create a mild street machine look. 1997-99 style stock wheels were painted black then the body lowered over them and finally roll over hoops were created using black painted solder.
To provide a touch of color in the otherwise monochromatic color scheme silver GS style fender stripes were created from silver decal paper and finally a single hand-brushed coat of Future was applied to further enhance the glossy finish.
Did I meet my challenge? Work began on the kit Friday evening and the finished model took its place on the display shelf early Sunday afternoon.
