2007 Coupe

The C6 debuted in the 2004 Detroit Auto Show.  Later, the convertible was announced in Geneva.  The C6 is not a radical departure from the C5.  The frame, chassis and many other components were upgrades based on the C5 platform.  Externally, one of the biggest changes is the exposed headlights, ending a tradition that started back in 1963.  The C5 was most likely the last production car in the world to use hidden headlights.  The engine is the new LS-2, a 6.0 liter small block from the Gen-III family of engines.  It produces 400 HP and 400 lbs/ft of torque.  The Z06 was introduced in 2006. C6 has paced the Indy 500 in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.
For 2007 the lineup remained unchanged.  A new color, Atomic Orange, replaced Daytona Sunset Orange.   An Atomic Orange 2007 Corvette paced the Indy 500.

The model

Michael Wheeler started out with the Revell 2005 kit, and added a steering wheel from the '06 ZO6 kit to bring the interior up to date. The body is painted with Testors "Firey Orange" which is very close to the Atomic Orange color on some '07's The chassis was detailed with heat staining on the exhausts and drilled brakes. The interior is flocked and has scratchbuilt floormats. The engine was paint detailed straight from the box.
