1998 Roadster
After a one year hiatus, a convertible returned to the Corvette lineup in 1998. This was no surprise, since it was known that the C5 was designed as a convertible from the start. The end result is a car that needs no additional bracing or support, compared to the coupe's version. With an outstanding torsional frequency of 21.3 Hz (compared to the C4's 13.1 Hz), the new Corvette convertible can be ordered with the optional Z51 performance handling package, something simply impossible in previous models. Other features include the first trunk available in 36 years (1962 for those who can't subtract), a new top designed to be easier to operate, a "waterfall" between the seats, reminiscent of solid axles Vettes and fairings behind the headrests. Overall, this model is taking the Corvette into the World Class arena.
The model:
Jeff Robinson from Canada built this Revell convertible to represent a ’98 Blue roadster belonging to another member of the Spokane Washington, USA Corvette club, with its own personalized license plate.
