1977 Corvette
Despite regulations and loss of power, Corvettes were still very popular during the mid '70s. In 1977 a total of 49,213 Corvettes were made, an all time record by then. Today it is still the 3rd best selling model year in history, surpassed only by the 1979 and 1984 model years. The base engine was rated at 180 hp and the optional L-82 was rated at 210 hp. Leather seats were standard for the first time. A new console allowed the use of conventional radio units. A total of 12 colors were available, with white been the most popular with 9,408, followed by black with 6,070 and light blue with 5,967. During the model year, engine paint color changed from the traditional orange to blue, so the early cars have orange engines, later cars have blue.
