1959 Dean Geddes racer
The model:
Phil built this '59 Corvette as a replica of Dean Geddes' race car.
Phil's comments: "I built this model to give as a gift to Dean Geddes the next time I see him. Dean only raced for a few years starting in 1958 in a 56 Corvette. Legend has it that the first race he entered he won was also the first race he had ever seen. The next year he got a new 1959 Corvette, in which he won the West Coast B-Production Championship. This car is the subject of the model. Photographs of this car racing can be found in Dave Friedman's book Corvette Thunder. The model kit had been in my closet for a number of years being previously started for another project. I guess because it was the old AMT kit, I lost interest in that project. However as a "quick- build", I decided to resurrect it. It is funny how long "quick- build's" can take these days. It is mostly box stock but I had already molded in the rear-end. The decals were made on with my Testors Sure Thing program."
