C5R HM  Homologation car

This is a model of the first Corvette C5-R or more correctly the modified street Corvette Test Mule and Homologation car that became the first C5R race car. There was some thought at the time that a certain number of these "Super-Vettes" would have to be build to meet regulations. There was a second homologation car with the more familiar exposed headlights and cut out hood vent that survives today at the Corvette Museum.

The model:
Phil built this rendition of the C5R Homologation car  The model is a melding of a stock Corvette chassis, running gear, windshield frame and glass and interior with a body from the firstC5- R kit. The hood and hood vents were opened up while side, roof and exhaust openings were blanked off. The engine was slightly modified and is closer to the engine configuration in the second Homologation car, which started off as more of a racecar for the street. The wheels are from Fujimi and are like the bolt on wheels used on the original car. The paint is the new Testor's Custom Lacquer System.
