1964
If buying a coupe, the first change you would notice was the removal of the controversial split window bar then youd notice that the C pillar vents that had been non functional depressions the first year had now become a pair of functional louvers on each side of the roof. On all cars the plastic grills on the hood were gone although the shallow depressions would remain for the year. The chrome rocker panels would also change slightly for 64 by having fewer ridges. While all C2's looked quite similar two features changed each year. One was the style of the stock hubcaps and surprisingly the second feature was the outer gas cap cover. In 1963 it was large crossed flags on a white field and for this year it carried smaller flags on a white field surrounded by concentric gray rings. The interior changes were minor and for the modeler painting the centers of each instrument face black instead of silver is all that will be necessary. And for the first time the most popular color was Riverside Red accounting for nearly 25% of all Corvettes built.
The model
Joe built this '64 after seeing the color combination at several shows.
1964 Convertible. It's Daytona Blue (the photo is too light) with a red interior. The hubcaps came from the 64 coupe kit.
Comments:
This is a nice color combination that is not seen everyday. The correct hubcaps also look good.
