2001 Z06

The fourth iteration of the C5, after the coupe, the convertible and the hardtop, is the purpose built Z06. This is an enthusiast car. Based on the hardtop body, it is powered by the LS6 version of the original LS1 engine. It produces 385 hp and it is only available with manual transmission. The option list is minimal. The exhaust system is made out of titanium, a first in the automotive industry. This car will carry the Corvette flag to new heights.

The model:

Jay L. Kovar built this concept with the following explanation: "I am medical director for Petroleum Helicopters Inc.  PHI has been in business since the end of WWII and has a long history of servicing the off shore oil platforms.  PHI's Air Medical helicopters began with AirEvac in Phoenix AZ more than 25 years ago, now we have close to 50 programs across the US.  I am medical director for all Texas programs as well as Chairman of the Medical Advisory Board for all US air medical programs.  I built this because all of the top execs are Corvette people.  This Z06 is in corporate livery used on our aircraft.  Think the boss will see clear to setting me up in one of these?"  yeah right...
