1954 Carrera Panamericana Mexican Race

Probably the earliest documented racing attempt for the Corvette was the Von Esser/Pultz entry in the November 1954 Carrera Panamericana road race in Mexico. A lot of speculation surrounds this attempt, as information and reference pictures are scarce. Research has confirmed that the car used was a '54, and not a '53 as many people believe. The essentially stock car retired with overheating problems.

The model:

Jay Lance Kovar built this '54 Carrera Panamericana racer using the Monogram kit and Bburago wheels.
