2005 Convertible
The C6 debuted in the 2004 Detroit Auto Show. Later, the convertible was announced in Geneva. The C6 is not a radical departure from the C5. The frame, chassis and many other components were upgrades based on the C5 platform. Externally, one of the biggest changes is the exposed headlights, ending a tradition that started back in 1963. The C5 was most likely the last production car in the world to use hidden headlights. The engine is the new LS-2, a 6.0 liter small block from the Gen-III family of engines. It produces 400 HP and 400 lbs/ft of torque.
The model
I built this model as a break from all the complex projects. This is a simple curbside box stock build with the exception of the wheels from the parts box.
I wanted to do hash marks but then I
decided to go a slightly different route. This model is also a little tribute my
favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt.
Paint is Cobra Colors Millennium Yellow, followed by Cobra Colors Lamborghini
Giallo Midas Pearl midcoat followed by Cobra Colors Clear
I am not very happy with the headlight covers. Having this not been a simple
quick build I'd have rework them
The only modification is that the
wheels in the back were smaller than the tire and I added a metal sleeve
Direct sunlight makes the pearl
explode
