Concept and Show Corvettes
We love them at first sight but by the time they reach the dealers showroom, if they ever do, we will be disappointed. What we refer to are automobile show cars and concept cars which by the time they go into production have usually become pale imitations of the car we first saw. As flamboyant GM design chief Bill Mitchell was once quoted, "show cars were more fun to work on because you didnt have a bunch of committeemen telling us, You cant do this. You cant do that. " Because GM had such forward thinkers and designers as Harley Earl, Bill Mitchell, Chuck Jordan, Larry Shinoda and others, there have always been a steady stream of innovative and exciting cars that carried the Corvette name.
