Corvette Nomad
1954
In 1949, General Motors devised a way of advertising the products they made. They created a huge show that was toured around many US cities and reached millions of people. The show was called "Transportation Unlimited" in 1949 and 1950. During 1951 and '52 no shows were held, but then in 1953, the show returned, this time extravagant, bigger and better. The name was changed to "Motorama". It was actually in this 1953 Motorama where the new two seats sports car called Corvette debuted. By 1954, the Corvette was already in its second year of production. But in that year's Motorama, an experimental Corvette based concept was presented: The Corvette Nomad. Reaction from the public was extremely good. Although it never saw production as a Corvette variant, the Nomad concept was transferred to the full size Chevy by Harley Earl. It became available to the public in 1955.

Don Theune ( www.scalevisions.com ) submitted this picture of this 1954 Corvette Nomad show car.
This is a resin transkit based on the AMT '53 Vette.
A note from Don:
"For those who are interested in the
54 Nomad that I created It's NOT a Polar Lights Kit It was created from a RESIN
Trans Kit. For those who are interested, I spoke with Nick Whitlow (the man with
the Molds) He WAS going to do another Run on the 54' Corvette Nomads BUT paused
to see what Polar Lights was doing. To the best of my knowledge, Polar
Lights are not doing anything now or in the not too distant future.
So for those interested in it, if enough of us get together we might be
able to secure another RESIN Run on them Here's the contact info
