Dick Moroso's   '61 drag CORVETTE

Dick Moroso drove a '61 drag Corvette in C/MP and D/MSP classes.  This car held both IHRA and NHRA records for years.  In NHRA, it held the record for C/Modified Production with a 1/4 mile time of 12.12  and D/Modified Sport with 12.79 seconds. It also held the speed record in D/MSP with 109.22 MPH.  According to an article in the March 26, 1967 SUNDAY  HERALD, "Dick's 283 engine is a marvel.  He revs it up to 6,000 RPMs on the starting line and pops the clutch.  Shifts are made arounf 8,000 RPMs. The engine runs a Sig Erson experimental flat tappet cam, Mondello ported and polished cylinder heads and Stahl headers (What else?).  Sitting on top of the whole works is an Edelbrock Ram Intake manifold with two 4-barrel Holley carburators.  To get full use of his small cube (high winder), Dick runs a 5.86:1 rear end ratio with 9.20-15 tires."
