1996

1996 marked the closing of a Corvette era. The C4 debuted in 1984, and proudly carried the Corvette flag for 13 model years. Important modifications and changes were made during this period, all aimed at making the Corvette better and better. But it was time to evolve.
The all new C5 was in the horizon, with the promise of being the best Vette yet. But the '96 model year will not disappear quietly into the history pages. Instead, it offered special editions like the Collector's, and the Grand Sport. A new engine version, the LT4, would be the last chapter in the Chevy small block legend that started in 1955. Based on the LT1, it featured improved airflow capabilities among other changes, and pumped 330 HP and redlined at 6300. It was standard in all 1000 Grand Sports and optional in all '96 models.
The Grand Sport was painted Admiral Blue with a white stripe and red slashes in the left front fenders. It used ZR-1 wheels, painted black and the coupe version has fender flares in the back to accommodate the bigger tires.
The Collector's edition was a special trim package and the car was painted Sebring Silver Metallic with matching wheels. This option was ordered in 5412 Corvettes, both coupes and convertibles.
