ZR-1 Coupe
The King is dead. After 6939 cars the ZR-1 line closed forever. To those on the inside the end had been known as early as 1991 when GM informed Lotus Engineering and MerCruiser that the program would be ended after the 1995 model year. The reason given by GM management was that they were more interested in competing with Japans light weight fuel efficient cars. The truth was a need to meet 1996 and later government emission standards. To do this would have required expenditures in excess of one million, money that cash strapped GM were not prepared to invest.
Despite the fact that this would be the end, the 448 ZR-1's received any appropriate changes made this model year. The most obvious was the new side fender vents. While no more LT5's would be built GM realized the importance of standing behind their flagship car and sufficient service parts for a 30 year period have been stock piled. This is welcoming news as it means we will continue to see the King of the Hill on the roads and tracks rather than being instantly delegated to the ranks of trailer queen.
The model:
Scott S. Haas sent in this great looking ZR-1 Corvette picture...

of Monogram's ZR-1 kit# 2455...

The exterior paint is actually a Ford dupli-color Teal automotive paint.

Scott did a great job on the engine.
