1994 Roadster
Corvette has a home. It had started in 1989 when a group of Corvette enthusiasts decided that our favorite car needed a shrine. This culminated on Labour Day weekend when 180,000 arrived bringing with them 4,000 Corvettes for the grand opening of the National Corvette Museum. Located across the highway from the Assembly Plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky the NCM is fast becoming the depository for everything that relates to the history of Corvette.
If its own museum were not enough proof of owners loyalty to a car then the actions of George Swanson of Pennsylvania are the ultimate proof. Mr Swanson took it with him, he was buried in his 1984 white coupe. Drained of all fluids, set in a bed of cement and taking up three burial plots Mr. Swansons ashes will forever be behind the wheel of a Corvette.
Customer satisfaction and slow improvements were Corvettes prime target for 1994. Changes to the dash controls, a new single piece instrument panel and new inner door panels with restyled standard and sport seats provided a more comfortable interior. A passenger side air bag and leather seats are now standard. The only engine change was the introduction of sequential fuel injection. By having the injection firing rate match that of the plug firing order a smoother idle and lower emissions could be obtained.
The model:
AMT 1994 Corvette #8073 in 1/25 scale...
This was a good later model year Corvette to build..not a lot of parts..good details. As pointed out by one observer.. the hood does not have a good fit.. in fact it's terrible.
The rear had a good stance.. but some of the trim detail could have been better.
The interior was pretty basic.. with some of the dash components arrange different from the actual car.
Comments:
Would like to give this model another try and add more detailing.
Make new hinges for hood to swing open properly with a better fit.
